SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY CONNECTION

What is the spirit, soul, and body connection? Understanding the mind, spirit, and body connection is the first step toward mental and emotional freedom. The human spirit is the life-giving force, the seat of conscience, and the mind is the center of our will, emotions, and desires. The brain is the center of all mental activities––a power house by virtue of the role it plays. The brain has the ability to grow new neurons even after damage has occurred. The mind is empowered by the brain to process thoughts in unique ways. For a human to function at his or her best, the spirit, soul, and body must function synergistically. The best food for the spirit of man is the Word of God, the best food for the brain is knowledge, and the best food for the mind is to analyze all knowledge and divine understanding brought to it by the spirit and the brain. If spirit, mind, and body are deprived of quality food, the entire system will begin to crumble. Whatever we feed our minds and spirits will determine how we feel and act. The mind, spirit, and brain can empower or disempower the body. That is why the Bible declares that as a man thinks in his heart so is he (see Proverbs 23: 7). It is what we provide the brain and mind that will influence how we feel and act. We are what we eat, and we are what we think. The mind is the engine that keeps the vehicle called the body moving and is one of the most important components we have. It is the power center of motivation and inspiration. It is sad that most people underestimate the power of the mind. As a result, most minds or thought processes are underdeveloped by virtue of neglect and ignorance. A weak and undisciplined mind will produce mediocrity in all areas of our existence. Dreams are born in our spirits, processed in our brains, and executed by our minds. Dreams are fulfilled by the energy that comes from the mind. What the switch is to the electric bulb, the brain is to the mind. The brain receives all the vital information but the mind processes and implements the decisions. We have three mental centers: the brain, the mind, and the spirit. The brain and the spirit are great information gatherers. The brain collects all the information from the natural world while the spirit receives information from the spirit realm, from where all information, good or bad, is downloaded and made ready for delivery to the mind, and then channeled through our words and actions to the physical world. The Bible instructs that we should guide our minds with all diligence for out of them come the issues of life (see Proverbs 4: 23). Our minds are so powerful that they are capable of producing a “placebo” or “nocebo” effect. That means we are capable of directing the energy of our minds to impact us negatively or positively.
